The Jigawa State Health, Safety & Strict Saudi Complianceate Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced medical screening for intending pilgrims as preparations intensify for the 2026 Hajj exercise, expected to attract millions of worshippers from across the globe.
The exercise kicked off on Tuesday at Hadejia General Hospital, with the Director General of the board, Umar Labbo, inaugurating the process.
Labbo stated:
“The medical screening is part of our ground preparation to ensure the health and safety of all pilgrims. We are committed to ensuring that only medically fit pilgrims are allowed to perform Hajj.”
He stressed strict adherence to Saudi Arabian regulations, which require all pilgrims to be certified medically fit before travel.
The Director General was accompanied by the Director of Operations, Muhammad Garba, who echoed the board’s commitment to transparency and fairness throughout the screening.
Labbo reiterated:
“The medical screening is a critical component of the Hajj preparation process, aimed at ensuring that pilgrims are healthy enough to undertake the pilgrimage.”
He promised that the board is leaving no stone unturned in preparing intending pilgrims for the journey and urged full cooperation with medical personnel.
First-time pilgrim Aisha Mohammed from Jigawa expressed excitement after her screening:
“I’m feeling great, alhamdulillah! The process was smooth, and the medical team was very professional. I’m looking forward to performing Hajj and praying for my family’s well-being.”
Another intending pilgrim, Abdullahi Yusuf, who has waited years for the opportunity, said:
“I hope everything goes well, insha’Allah. I’ve been preparing for this moment for so long. The medical screening was thorough, and I appreciate the efforts of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board. Fingers crossed for a successful outcome.”
The screening is part of broader preparations to ensure pilgrims from Jigawa undertake the sacred journey in good health and full compliance with international requirements.
