he Kano State Police Command has achieved a major success in its fight against vehicle theft, recovering two stolen vehicles and apprehending a suspected car thief.
This development was confirmed in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, on Tuesday in Kano.
According to CSP Kiyawa, on December 16 at approximately 8:00 PM, officers from the command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS), acting on reliable intelligence, arrested Ibrahim Abubakar of Hotoro Tishama Quarters while in possession of a stolen Toyota Hilux with registration number KUJ 757 MH.
Investigations conducted by the police also led to the recovery of another stolen vehicle, a Toyota Camry bearing registration GWA 401 MA.
CSP Kiyawa stated that the suspect admitted to stealing the vehicles from Abuja. Authorities have launched further investigations to identify and apprehend other members of the theft syndicate and recover additional stolen property.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, commended the Special Intervention Squad for their dedication, professionalism, and selfless service in securing the arrests and vehicle recoveries.
He also called on Kano residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via the command’s emergency hotlines: 0803 241 9754, 0812 382 1575, and 0902 929 2926.
