Libyan authorities have repatriated 80 Nigerian migrants held in detention centers across the country, continuing efforts to reduce overcrowding and manage irregular migration.
The operation, coordinated by the Department for Combating Illegal Migration (DCIM) and the Nigerian Consulate in Tripoli, took place on Wednesday via Mitiga International Airport.
According to Migrant Rescue Watch, the deportees included women previously transferred by the Judicial Police under orders from the Public Prosecutor’s Office. All had been issued judicial deportation orders.

The move reflects ongoing collaboration between Libyan officials and foreign missions to address detention facility congestion and human rights concerns, while enforcing immigration regulations.
Many of the returnees were undocumented and had been detained during crackdowns on irregular migration routes.
