Reality TV star and actress Mercy Eke has debunked a viral report suggesting she planned to have a child outside marriage. The former Big Brother Naija 2019 winner addressed the rumor in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.
The controversy arose after certain media outlets claimed that Mercy, who is unmarried, had said she intended to have a child this year but abandoned the plan due to unforeseen circumstances. The reports further alleged that she described herself as a “goal-oriented person” capable of supporting three children outside wedlock.
Mercy Eke, however, categorically denied the claims, stating that she never made such remarks nor granted any interview to that effect. In her post, accompanied by an anger emoji, she urged the newspaper that published the story to take it down immediately, adding:
“Stop spreading fake news about me. I never said this or granted any interview.”
Her statement underscores the ongoing battle against misinformation and false reporting surrounding celebrities in the media.
