Big Brother Naija Pepper Dem winner Mercy Eke has opened up on her stance on motherhood and marriage, declaring she is fully ready to have a child outside wedlock if life leads her there.
In a candid interview on the Inside Scoop podcast released on Friday, November 28, 2025, the reality star and entrepreneur said:
“If I get pregnant tomorrow and I’m not married, I’m keeping the baby. Simple. I want three children — preferably girls — and marriage is not a condition for me to become a mother. Society only stigmatises single mothers who are struggling. When you’re doing well, have money, and you’re happy, nobody cares. Men will still be rushing you.”
Mercy, 35, emphasised that while she’s not actively trying to get pregnant outside marriage, she refuses to let societal pressure dictate her choices.
“The stigma is only for women who don’t have things going well for them. When you’re a successful single mother, you’ll still have men begging to marry you. I have suitors right now, but I haven’t seen the one that matches what I want in a man.”
She added that becoming a single mother would not close the door on marriage later — if she ever decides she wants it.
The Imo-born star, who has previously spoken about freezing her eggs and focusing on her businesses, reiterated that her happiness and peace of mind come first.
Mercy’s comments have sparked mixed reactions online — with many praising her boldness and independence, while others debate the message it sends to younger fans.
