A viral story claiming Texas mother Kim Erick (54) discovered her son Christopher Todd Erick‘s (23) plastinated remains in the Real Bodies exhibition at Bally’s Las Vegas hotel is false, as confirmed by fact-checks and the exhibit’s owners. The tale, circulating widely on social media since November 2025, stems from Erick’s long-standing belief her son—found dead in 2012—was murdered and secretly displayed after plastination. However, the exhibit predates his death, and bodies are ethically sourced from China, unrelated to him.
The Claim
Erick alleges spotting a “skinned and butchered” body posed as “The Thinker” with a matching skull fracture and shaved tattoo area (to hide identity). She demands DNA testing, citing 2012 photos of bruises/restraining marks and cyanide in his system (initially ruled natural, later undetermined, then suicide in 2014—no homicide evidence found). Erick, via archived site chriserick.com and Facebook, insists foul play and no proper cremation (only ashes vial given).

- Erick’s Account: She hasn’t visited the exhibit (too far); claims stem from online photos since 2018. The body was reportedly moved to Tennessee in 2025, but no trail confirms ties to Chris.
- Police Ruling: Midlothian PD investigated thoroughly; 2014 jury found suicide (cyanide self-ingested). No foul play; case closed.
