The National Museum of Egptian Civilization is a pertinent educational and research center for tourists to witness the rich cultural heritage of the Egyptians.
The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is located in the heart of the historical city of Fustat, Cairo, and the choice of the city of Fustat to be the seat of the museum was well thought out, as its geographical surroundings include monuments of different civilizations of Egypt, the cradle of civilization.
The joint efforts of UNESCO, the Egyptian Authorities, and the Ministry of Culture collectively aimed at establishing a museological institution that reflects the various cultural aspects of Egypt’s rich history through adopting aesthetically and technologically advanced methods used at the 21st renowned museum.
The NMEC is considered the first of its kind in Egypt and the Arab world, which presents the full range of the richness and diversity of Egyptian civilization throughout the ages, from prehistoric times to the present day.
Dr. Sayed Abu el Fadl, Head of Museum Display, said “we have more than five main laboratories for preservation and conservation and fifteen scientific labs to maintain and restore all object to the main gallery. We have lots of conservators working here, their minimum academic degree is Masters degree. We also have a well trained scientific group.
Egyptian mummies body are properly preserved that’s why they can stay for thousand of years. The bodies of the mummies were found in Luxor’s West Bank and the Valley of the Kings.
We have twenty (20) Royal mummies, Seventeen (17) Kings and three (3) sweet queens. Their tombs, coffin, artifacts, and accessories are also available”, he added.
According to Dr Maisara Salah Arts Museum Guide, said “the establishment of the museum was designed to be a cultural center, scientific research, in addition to becoming a center for local, regional and international community communication in order to work to preserve the ancient culture of Egypt.
The antiquities depict the old civilization in Egypt and finally modern Egypt. All the antiquities we have are original, we do not show or exhibit replica because we have them in large quantities, and they are all orginal piece.
The NMEC is the first of its kind in Egypt and the Arab world. It presents the full range of the richness and diversity of Egyptian civilization throughout the ages, from prehistoric times to the present day.
