Nigeria Forest Security Service Pays Courtesy Visit to Coordinator, Office of the First Lady

The Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) today paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the First Lady, where it congratulated Mrs. Edesili Anani on her appointment as the Coordinator. The visit underscores NFSS commitment to community security and its collaborative approach with state government offices.
Approved by the 10th Senate, the NFSS is tasked with securing communities from banditry, terrorism, and kidnapping by systematically clearing criminal activities from the forests.
The delegation, led by State Commander Segun Aigbavboa, who reviewed the service’s ongoing operations in Edo State.
During the meeting at the Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Anani acknowledged the efforts of the NFSS, noting that the State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpehbolo, greatly appreciate the service’s contributions to Edo State’s security.
Commander Segun Aigbavboa highlighted that NFSS operates through national, state commands, with officers deployed across various local government areas in Edo State to gather intelligence and curb criminal activities effectively.
He expressed optimism about future collaborations with the Office of the First Lady to enhance service delivery at both the state and national levels.
The NFSS currently have 3,000 officers in Edo State and more than 40,000 officers nationwide, working in close partnership with the Nigeria Police, Army, and the NSCDC to address and reduce criminality.
In a bid to further improve operational effectiveness, Commander Aigbavboa appealed to the Edo State Government for additional support. He requested that NFSS be integrated into the state security architecture and provided with enhanced mobility for operational duties, suitable office accommodations, and essential security equipment such as walkie talkies and bullet-proof vests.
Mrs. Anani commended the NFSS for its diligence in “combing the bush” and its unwavering commitment to duty. She reiterated that Governor Monday Okpehbolo holds their efforts in high regard and assured the officers that the government is dedicated to resolving any challenges they face.
“I know the Governor is an action man, and he will attend to all your requests to ensure that the NFSS in Edo State is effectively functional. A new Edo has risen,” she affirmed.
This visit reinforces the strong partnership between NFSS and the state government, emphasizing a unified approach to securing communities and enhancing public safety across Edo State.
