NYSC urges corps members to refrain from making negative posts online

By Peter.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a stern warning to Corps members against using social media negatively, emphasizing that such actions will attract severe sanctions. Director-General Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu delivered the message during addresses at orientation camps, urging participants to create content that positively showcases the Scheme and Nigeria.

Key Warnings from DG Nafiu

Speaking on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the NYSC Delta State Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku to 2025 Batch ‘C’ Corps members, Nafiu stressed:

  • Social Media Discipline: “Create content that positively reflects the Scheme and Nigeria. Any negative posts will attract sanctions.”
  • Obedience & Safety: Avoid unauthorized journeys, follow camp instructions, complete biometrics and Community Development Service (CDS), and respect host communities’ cultural values.
  • Core Values: Be patriotic; let integrity, efficiency, transparency, and commitment guide actions.

Earlier that week at the Rivers State camp, Nafiu reiterated: “Imbibe the Scheme’s core values throughout your service year and beyond.”

Camp Updates

  • Delta State: Coordinator Mr. John Kwaghe reported smooth operations with 2,101 Corps members (944 males, 1,157 females) showing high discipline.
  • Rivers State: Hosts 2,586 Corps members (4th highest deployment), with 8,349 Rivers indigenes serving nationwide—saving the state ~₦15 billion annually.

Nafiu’s directives aim to foster responsible citizenship amid rising concerns over misinformation and indiscipline. Corps members are reminded: Positive representation builds national pride—negative actions undermine it.
