Office of the First Lady Appreciates Usugbonu Technical College Innovative Project on Waste Management

The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Edo State, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has congratulated students of Usugbonu Technical College, Irrua, Esan Central, Edo State for emerging victorious in a science competition held in Abuja.
Mrs. Anani expressed her delight and pride in the student’s achievement, stating that it brings recognition to Edo State during a courtesy visit in her office in Government House.
Mrs. Anani praised the student’s ingenuity, highlighting the potential of the project to positively impact waste management in Edo State. She encouraged the student to continue pursuing their passion for science and technology, emphasizing the importance of innovation in community development.
The Usugbonu Technical College Irrua was led by Engr. Jonathan Ukpebor, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology Edo State and Mrs Agbonlahor Juliet, Principal Usugbonu Technical College Irrua to the Office of the First Lady to showcase the student innovative project on waste management.
The student Samson Shulamite, Ujadughele Praise and John God’s Favour explained their innovative project on waste management sensors, which can detect when waste bins are full and signal waste management for collection.
The system uses sensors to separate waste into different categories, such as plastics and metals. The student also developed an app to facilitate communication between the waste bin and waste management teams, ensuring efficient waste collection.
