Nigerian striker Esther Okoronkwo lit up a snowy York Lions Stadium on Monday, November 10, 2025, with a blistering first-half hat-trick to propel AFC Toronto into the inaugural Northern Super League (NSL) championship match.
The 28-year-old Super Falcons star struck in the 7th, 20th, and 26th minutes, turning a tense semifinal into a 4-1 rout of the Montreal Roses and sealing a commanding 6-1 aggregate victory. Lauren Rowe added a late fourth in the 83rd minute, while Tanya Boychuk grabbed Montreal’s lone reply in the 74th.
“Esther is a big-time player who steps up in big moments — we saw it at WAFCON, and now here,” said Toronto coach Marko Milanović. “The link-up with Kaylee Hunter was electric. That’s the standard we expect in the final.”
Okoronkwo’s triple came just weeks after she was named Nigeria’s Baller of the Week for a goal-and-two-assist masterclass in Toronto’s 7-0 thrashing of Vancouver Rise. Her 2025 NSL regular season haul—8 goals, 8 assists in 1,486 minutes—already marked her as a league MVP contender.
