Okpebholo commends Media’s Role in Nation Building, Felicitates BeeTV on 2nd Anniversary

BeeTV has been lauded for its commitment to credible journalism and social impact as it marked its second anniversary at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, Benin City.
Representing the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Deputy Governor, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, commended the station’s management for its professionalism and contribution to public enlightenment.
The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, also congratulated BeeTV’s team for their dedication to responsible reporting and for fostering a platform that promotes civic engagement and national development.
In her remarks, Mrs. Anani highlighted the media’s vital role in shaping public opinion, promoting accountability, and advancing democracy. She described the event’s theme, *“Nigeria’s Future, Bleak or Bright? The Role of the Media,”* as timely, noting that the nation stands at a defining moment filled with both challenges and opportunities. “The media remains the engine of democracy,” she said. “A free, ethical, and independent press is essential to informing the public, checking abuse of power, and amplifying citizens’ voices.”
Reaffirming the State Government’s support, Mrs. Anani assured that under the leadership of Governor Okpebholo, Edo State remains committed to partnering with the media to strengthen transparency, accountability, and good governance. She urged media practitioners to continue telling stories that inspire hope, drive innovation, and reflect the true spirit of Nigeria.
The Managing Director of BeeTV News, Ms. Best Orator Officer, expressed gratitude to partners and supporters, describing BeeTV as a people-centered platform dedicated to truth and impact. The event also featured cultural performances, a keynote lecture by Prof. Eddy Erhagbe on media and democracy, and the unveiling of the BeeTV Foundation.
Highlights included the presentation of the *Icon of the Year Award* to former Governor Adams Oshiomhole and a special recognition for Governor Okpebholo. The ceremony concluded with the cutting of the BeeTV second anniversary cake, marking another milestone in the station’s journey of impactful storytelling and service to society.
