Osayande Bags The Nigerian Local Government Excellence Award

…honoured for human-capacity development, rural integration in LGA

The Executive Chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Dr. Eric Osayande, on Thursday, bagged the Nigerian Local Government Excellence Award (LOGEXA).

The Council boss was decorated at the Merit House, Maitama, Abuja, Thursday afternoon, alongside other awardees drawn from various parts of the Country.

Honoured for his deliberate efforts at developing human capacity and ensuring rural integration in his administration’s body polity, Osayande, alongside sixteen (16) other Chairmen in Nigeria, were decorated with medals, plaques, and other symbolic materials, acknowledging his efforts at the Council.

The event also featured a keynote address on “Cultivating Financial Resilience: Strategies for Effective Budgeting in Local Government Administration”, delivered by Prof. James Ojobo, of the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Abuja, Nigeria.

The Council’s Vice Chairman, Hon. Osamuyi Idehen, represented the Chairman; Idehen picked the award on behalf of the Chairman on Thursday at the Merit House, Maitama, Abuja.

The organizers noted that the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman has efficiently and judiciously expended the resources at his disposal, even in the face of dwindling global economy, demonstrating through transparency, accountability and commitment to duty, acts of selfless and worthy leadership.

The numerous projects, programmes executed by the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman, Dr. Eric Osayande, since he assumed office for a second term, September last year, seventy (70) were carefully selected, cutting across education, women empowerment, peace and security, rural electrification, roads rehabilitation, market infrastructure, sports, health and environment and other essentials, earning the Council boss a place in the comity of best-performing Council Chairmen in Nigeria.

The Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman, and other awardees at the Thursday event, have been urged to continue to propagate the ideals of good-governance, transparency and accountability in their respective councils, as they are now seen as potential leaders with the capacity to manage and utilise public resources in higher engagements.
