Owerri 2024: Alhassan, Abimbola flag-off NUJ presidential Campaign Council

 

All is now set for the inauguration and flag-off of NUJ Presidency and Deputy Presidency of Comrade Alhassan Yahya and Dr. Abimbola Oyetunde Campaign Council in Lagos on Saturday October 26, 2024, ahead of the NUJ Triennial Delegates Conference slated for Owerri, Imo state on November 27, 2024.

 

This is a crucial step towards the realization of NUJ Presidency and Deputy Presidency of Comrade Alhassan Yahya and Dr. Abimbola Oyetunde.

 

This is contained in a statement signed by Comr. Kenneth Ofoma, Secretary General, of A+A Campaign Council, and made available to journalists on Friday.

 

The Secretary also gave the slogan of the campaign council as “NUJ 2024: Forward Together: Greater Union!”

 

According to him, “the acronym ‘A + A’ (A plus A) stands for Alhassan plus Abimbola. For those familiar with the duo and their antecedents in the annals of NUJ, they represent a dynamo that will propel NUJ to the next phase of accomplishments and transformational leadership.

 

“A+A, even in genetical engineering, represents positivity, dynamic growth and purity of life.”

 

The statement noted that Alhassan and Abimbola exemplify institutional experience, innovation, dynamism, fidelity, integrity, transparency and accountability.

 

“A plus A also embodies a close-nit team that goes beyond the duo, but also encompasses other trail-blazing individuals that will bring change and advancement to the various departments of NUJ like the Treasury, Finance and Audit, among others.

 

“The new team promises a powerful but accessible, humane, forward looking and transformational CWC and NEC that will drive a new vision for a modern day Union that places welfare of members and progress of the industry at the front burner at all times.”

 

According to the statement, the A+A Campaign Council will comprise of the Director General (DG), Secretary General, Six Dep DGs (one per zone), Six Assistant DGs (one per zone), and Deputy Secretary General.

 

The Campaign Council is made up but not limited to the following:

 

Director General – Demola Babalola

 

Secretary General – Kenneth Ofoma

 

Deputy DG Zone A – Abbas Ibrahim.

Assistant DG Zone A – UBA Abdullahi

 

Deputy DG Zone B – Tunde Olalere.

Asst DG Zone B – Wale Olarewaju.

 

Dep DG Zone C – Kenneth Ofoma

Assist DG Zone C – Amaka Agbo

 

Dep DG Zone D – Ismaila Saba Favu

Asst DG Zone D – Orshi Nancy

 

Dep DG Zone E – Faruk Muazu

Asst DG Zone E – Saudi Mohammed

 

Dep DG Zone F – Amos Etuk

Asst DG Zone F – Andy Egbon.

 

Expected at the campaign flagg-off are NUJ veterans and leaders across the zones, the campaign team, and Chairmen and Secretaries of NUJ in the six state Councils of South West zone of Nigeria.

 

The Secretary General of the A+A Campaign Council will serve as the Official Spokesperson.

 

Highlights of the flag-off will be inauguration of the Campaign Council, unveiling of campaign materials and official flag-off of campaigns.

 

The event is slated to take place at Lagos NUJ Press Centre.
