A coordinated suicide attack struck the headquarters of Pakistan’s paramilitary Frontier Constabulary (FC) in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, on Monday morning, November 24, 2025, killing at least three FC personnel and wounding four to five others, according to police and rescue officials. The assault, which included explosions and heavy gunfire, unfolded around 8:10 a.m. local time (3:10 GMT) on Saddar Road—one of the city’s busiest arteries—just before morning rush hour.
Attack Details: Twin Suicide Blasts and Foiled Breach
Peshawar Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad detailed that three militants—two suicide bombers and one gunman—targeted the main gate during an assembly parade. One bomber detonated at the entrance, killing three FC guards and wounding four (some reports cite five total injured, including civilians). The second bomber and gunman attempted to breach but were neutralized by FC personnel in a firefight. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Chief Zulfiqar Hameed confirmed the operation concluded with a clearance sweep for unexploded ordnance; the area remains cordoned off.
AFP footage showed shrapnel-riddled gates, scattered body parts of a bomber, and emergency vehicles lining the scene. No group has claimed responsibility, but officials suspect the Pakistan Taliban (TTP), whose attacks have surged since the Afghan Taliban’s 2021 Kabul takeover.
Official Response: Condemnation and Resolve
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the “cowardly” assault, lauding security forces’ “timely action” for preventing worse casualties: “The perpetrators… should be identified as soon as possible and brought to justice. We will thwart the evil designs of terrorists who attack Pakistan’s integrity.” Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Ali Amin Gandapur vowed: “The morale of our security forces cannot be shaken… We will bring the perpetrators to justice.” Hospitals declared emergencies; six civilians were hospitalized in stable condition.
This marks the second major FC HQ attack in three years (Bannu, Sept. 2025: 6 killed) and the latest in a 2025 TTP surge (over 1,000 deaths, per UN), straining Pakistan-Afghanistan ties. Islamabad accuses Kabul of harboring militants; no response yet.
