The Ondo State Police Command has successfully rescued Oluwaseun Adebayo, a woman who was kidnapped, and captured four suspects who were involved in the incident. According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, the prompt rescue followed information from a vigilant citizen, with the abduction occurring on November 4 around 6:30 p.m.
Investigations revealed that Adebayo was abducted along Weluwelu Street, Ilekun, Oda, in Akure South Local Government Area. A concerned individual alerted the police that four young men, driving an unregistered Toyota Camry, had forcefully taken a lady and were headed toward Shoprite roundabout in Akure. The victim, who was being transported to an unidentified location prior to the intervention, was rescued after police personnel quickly mobilized to block the suspects’ route, intercepted the vehicle, and arrested all four of the assailants.
The unregistered Toyota Camry used in the abduction has been recovered as evidence. The four suspects remain in custody as investigations continue to uncover further details.
The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, commended the professionalism and quick response of his officers and acknowledged the public’s role in providing timely information, emphasizing that such cooperation strengthens trust between the police and community.
In addition, cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping, fraud, theft by conversion, and burglary were among the many crimes for which the Ondo State Police Command announced the arrest of 13 suspects throughout the state. Commissioner Adebowale stated these individuals will be charged in court upon completion of investigations.
