President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to visit Borno State on Saturday to inaugurate key development projects and attend a high-profile wedding ceremony in Maiduguri, the state capital.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that this visit is part of President Tinubu’s strategic engagements across selected states during the yuletide season.
Inauguration of Aviation, Transport, and Education Projects in Maiduguri
During his stay in Maiduguri, President Tinubu will inaugurate projects in the aviation, transport, and education sectors, implemented by both the Borno State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The president’s itinerary highlights the inauguration of new aviation facilities at Maiduguri International Airport, including an airport extension and a VIP wing. These upgrades aim to boost air transport operations in Borno State and enhance aviation services in Nigeria’s Northeast region, particularly amid improving regional security conditions.
Boosting Urban Transport and Livelihoods
President Tinubu will also visit Ramat Square to inaugurate newly procured tricycles, designed to enhance urban transportation and provide livelihood empowerment opportunities for residents of Maiduguri.
Expanding Access to Quality Education
In a bid to improve educational infrastructure, Tinubu will commission a newly constructed primary and secondary school in Maiduguri, named in his honor. The project aligns with Borno State’s ongoing efforts to increase school enrolment and provide modern learning facilities.
Attendance at High-Profile Wedding
Following the project inaugurations, the president will attend the Nikkah and wedding ceremony of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of former Borno State Governor Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, and Hadiza Kam Salem.
After concluding his engagements in Maiduguri, President Tinubu will travel to Bauchi State to condole with the state government and family of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, a renowned Islamic cleric and leader of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood, who passed away on November 27.
Return to Lagos for Year-End Holidays
President Tinubu will then return to Lagos, where he is expected to spend the end-of-year holidays.
