Promoting Digital Economy: Senator Tinubu Inaugurates Digital Learning Centres in Edo

In a bid to promote digital inclusion across Nigeria, the First Lady of the Nation, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated a Digital Learning Center (DLC) as part of efforts to bridge the digital divide in communities.
The inauguration ceremony was held at Ujabhole Grammar School, Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area, Edo State on Thursday, 23rd October 2025, conducted in a hybrid format, with Senator Tinubu joining virtually. The Digital Learning Center is a project of the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) in partnership with National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

Speaking virtually, the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, stated that the administration has established 296 digital learning centers in Nigeria, with plans to add 148 more this year, aiming for 592 centers by 2027.

The Coordinator Office Of The First Lady, Edo State, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, described the Digital Learning Center as a testament to the renewed hope initiative dedication to revolutionizing learning through technology and bridging the digital divide in communities.

Mrs. Anani noted that it is pertinent to equip students with cutting-edge technology, e-learning resources, and interactive tools, to enhance their skills and enable them compete and excel in the 21st-century knowledge economy.

The Principal of Ujabhole Grammar School, Mr. Asemote Wisdom, expressed appreciation to the First Lady of the Nation and partners for the initiative, stating that it will enhance the technological skills of teachers and students.
Some of the students Ohue Gift, Ekujuvwevwo Reality, and Omoriawo Destiny, were elated about the initiative, which is expected to boost creativity, entrepreneurship, and national development.
