Anambra CP Ikioye Orutugu dropped a no-nonsense security advisory on Wednesday as the “Ember months” (Sept–Dec) kick in: more traffic, more cash, more parties… and way more criminals waiting to cash in.
Key warnings from the Command:
- Avoid late-night movement unless absolutely necessary
- Lock homes & shops properly – no half measures
- Report suspicious people or gatherings immediately
- Stop drunk driving, speeding, and night journeys
- Beware of online scams, fake investment schemes & job offers – “Verify before you trust”
Police have already rolled out:
- 24/7 visibility patrols & highway stop-and-search
- Joint security at markets, churches, motor parks
- Raids on criminal hideouts
