Senator Tinubu Launches Initiative to Empower Women with ICT Skills

The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has launched the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Women’s ICT Training and Empowerment Programme in Benin City on Tuesday, 28th October 2025.
The programme which is in partnership with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), aims to equip 320 women from six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory with cutting-edge ICT skills.

Senator Tinubu was represented by Mr. Eghosa Urhoghide, Managing Director, Edo State ICT Agency. She emphasized the initiative’s commitment to promoting gender equality and harnessing women’s potential in Nigeria.

The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady Edo State, Mrs. Edesili Anani was represented by the special adviser to the Governor on special duties, Mrs Betty Okonoboh . She highlighted the importance of digital inclusion in driving socio-economic development and bridging the gender gap in technology.
One of the participants, Blessing Divine, said the training has broadened her horizons on digitalization and ICT skills and appreciated the First Lady of the Nigeria for the laudable initiative.

The programme is expected to have a transformative impact on women’s economic, social development and bridging the gender gap in technology.
