Shooting at North Carolina Holiday Event Leaves Four People Injured

 By Peter.

Four people were injured in a shooting at Concord’s 28th annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Friday evening, November 21, 2025, around 7:30 p.m. local time, according to city officials and police. The incident occurred on Union Street South near Corban Avenue, turning a festive family event—featuring Santa, food trucks, The Grinch screening, and planned fireworks—into chaos as crowds fled in panic.

Three victims are in critical condition, while one is stable; all were transported by Concord Fire and Cabarrus County EMS, who were already on-site for the event. Eyewitnesses described hearing 7–8 gunshots, initially mistaken for fireworks, followed by people “running, falling down” amid sirens and evacuations.

Investigation Underway

Concord Police have not identified suspects or a motive; the incident is under active review with video footage from the event and witness interviews. Officials urge anyone with photos/videos to submit them via hotline (704-920-5027) or online tip form. The remainder of the event was canceled; roads were cleared, and the city’s 97th Christmas Parade (scheduled Saturday) proceeds as planned.

Rep. Mark Harris (R-NC) expressed solidarity: “We are praying for the safety of our brave law enforcement officers, first responders, and everyone on the scene.” No further threats reported; community leaders call for calm amid the holiday season.
