The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has emphasized the importance of skills acquisition as a pathway to economic empowerment and prosperity.
Mrs. Anani made the assertion while addressing the Miss Edo International representatives in Government House, Benin City.
She stated that skills acquisition can foster self-reliance and sustainable development. It is another way of empowering yourself. There is a need in society, and you have to find a solution to it, that is why we encourage our youth to learn skill and have a means of livelihood.
She highlighted various in-demand skills, including catering, fashion design, beautician services, and makeup artistry, noting that not everyone needs a white-collar job to be productive and contribute to society.
Mrs. Anani reaffirmed her commitment to collaborating with the Miss Edo International on its pet projects, advising that the initiatives should prioritize giving back to the society.
The Organizer of Miss Edo International, Miss Debby Benson, expressed gratitude to Mrs. Anani for her mother love, leadership skills, collaboration, and the opportunity given to the beauty queens to learn new skills through the Edo Jobs program.
