Operatives from the Delta State Police Command have apprehended a 24-year-old man suspected of armed robbery after discovering a homemade pistol stashed inside a loaf of bread during a routine check.
Delta State Police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, shared the details in a statement released on Friday, November 8, 2025.
On Thursday, November 6, around 8:45 a.m., the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) was carrying out a standard stop-and-search at Koka Roundabout in Asaba when they flagged down a young man acting suspiciously. A deeper inspection uncovered the improvised Beretta-style pistol cleverly hidden within the bread.
The suspect, identified as Nnamdi Stanley, was swiftly detained. Authorities have locked down the weapon as evidence and launched a probe to uncover any links to armed robberies or kidnappings in Asaba and nearby areas.
This arrest underscores the ongoing efforts by Delta Police to curb violent crime through vigilant patrols and quick interventions.
