The spokesperson for the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Michael Achimugu, has stated that social media influencers Very Dark Man (VDM) and Mr Jollof will face the full force of the law following a fight aboard an aircraft at Asaba International Airport on November 17.
In a post on his X account, Achimugu wrote:
“I had just boarded a flight when I saw a video of a violent incident between VDM and Mr Jollof, two social media influencers who should know better. Due to takeoff procedures, I quickly requested basic details from the poster to forward to our CPOs for investigation.
On arrival at the transit airport, I found my comment met with insults from some online users. I will ignore those for now.
Procedurally, the airline should report such incidents to the NCAA, and our department would refer it to legal for advice and appropriate action. Although I have not yet received the official report, I want to stress: there is no tolerance for unruly behavior aboard an aircraft. Both individuals will face the full strength of the law. It is particularly shameful given their role in educating millions of followers on proper conduct.
Their actions endangered the safety of passengers, crew, and the aircraft itself. The NCAA has invested heavily in educating the public about the risks of such behavior, and there is no excuse that makes this acceptable.
I will release a full statement once all details are received.”
Both VDM and Mr Jollof are currently at the Delta State Airport Police Command giving their statements.
A video of the incident has also surfaced.
