Three people have been killed in a fresh outbreak of gang violence in Oyorokoto, a major fishing settlement in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Community sources report that suspected gang members arrived by speedboat in the early hours of Tuesday, December 16, 2025, targeting specific homes and carrying out the attacks as part of an ongoing rivalry.
This incident follows closely on separate killings in nearby Ngo (Monday, December 15) and Unyegala (Sunday, December 14) communities, where two deaths and one critical injury were reported earlier in the week amid a supremacy battle between rival groups.
The escalating violence has sparked widespread fear, causing many residents to flee the affected areas for safety.
Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, previously confirmed the Ngo and Unyegala incidents as linked to cult rivalries, with reinforced security and ongoing investigations to apprehend those responsible. No official confirmation was available for the latest Oyorokoto attack at the time of reporting.
Local youth leader Jonathan Enyina of the Obolo Youth Coalition has strongly condemned the killings.
