UFC CEO Dana White has slammed the door shut on Dillon Danis’ return to any UFC event, declaring the 32-year-old “banned for life” after he sparked a chaotic cageside melee with Islam Makhachev’s teammates during Saturday’s UFC 322 at Madison Square Garden. The brawl erupted moments before Makhachev defended his welterweight title with a dominant win over Jack Della Maddalena, turning the arena into a frenzy of flying fists and security scrambles.
Videos captured Danis clashing with Abubakar Nurmagomedov and newly signed UFC fighter Magomed Zaynukov, with punches thrown and Danis briefly cuffed before ejection. White, who blamed himself for not booting Danis earlier despite warnings from Jorge Masvidal (“I’ll f— him up on sight”), confirmed no charges but zero tolerance:
“I was on the other side [of the Octagon] and go, ‘F—, I know exactly what this is’… You will never see Dillon Danis at a UFC fight ever again.”
The dust-up echoes Danis’ infamous role in the 2018 UFC 229 post-fight riot, where he brawled with Khabib Nurmagomedov after McGregor’s loss—earning a 7-month suspension and $7,500 fine. Though the McGregor-Nurmagomedov feud has simmered, Danis reignited it with fight-week social media jabs at Makhachev, Khabib’s protégé.
Makhachev, unfazed, later quipped: “He said a lot of bad things about our team… today the guys just met him.” Danis, absent from UFC since 2019 and fresh off a 2023 boxing DQ loss to Logan Paul, had no comment.
