Umahi Says Tinubu’s Inclusive Governance Has Made Biafra Agitations Irrelevant

By Peter.

Minister of Works David Umahi has called on Igbo people worldwide to abandon calls for Biafran secession, declaring that President Bola Tinubu’s administration has delivered the inclusion, equity, and development long demanded by the South-East—without breaking away from Nigeria.

Speaking late Saturday, December 13, 2025, during an inspection of mega projects on the Enugu–Anambra Road, Umahi told stakeholders, contractors, and community leaders:

“The push for Biafran secession was borne out of neglect, exclusion, and underrepresentation—but today, the narrative has changed dramatically under President Bola Tinubu. Biafra was never about breaking Nigeria; it was about being counted in Nigeria. Through inclusion, justice finds a people—and agitation loses its voice.”

Umahi’s Key Points: “Tinubu Has Remembered the South-East”

  • Unprecedented Appointments: South-East now enjoys “full quota” in federal roles—Umahi himself as Works Minister, plus “Igbo footprints” across sectors.
  • Massive Infrastructure: Ongoing “mega projects” in all five SE states, previously “unattainable,” including Enugu–Anambra Road dualisation and Enugu–Benue highway.
  • Regional Alignment: Explains why governors like Peter Mbah (Enugu) support the APC-led FG—development trumps division.

Umahi, echoing his September 2025 “Tinubu has remembered the South-East” declaration at Ninth Mile Corner, urged Ndigbo to “rally behind the President” for his “rare commitment” via concrete investments.

Broader Context: Shifting SE Politics

The plea comes amid APC’s growing SE foothold—governors like Hope Uzodinma (Imo) already in the fold, with others warming. Critics dismiss it as political spin, but Umahi frames it as pragmatic: “When a people are fully integrated, respected, and empowered, the dream once chased through agitation is achieved through cooperation.”

As roadworks rumble in Enugu-Anambra, Umahi’s message resonates: Development, not division, is the new path forward.
