World Egg Day: Coordinator Office Of The Lady Supports Women in Agriculture

The Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN) in collaboration with the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN), Edo State Branch, organized the maiden ASAN week and World Egg Day 2025 held annually on October 10th.
The two days seminar theme “The Mighty Egg: Packed with Natural Nutrition.” was held at the Agric Hub, ADP, Oko-Ogba, Benin City, Edo State.
In her keynote address, Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Edo State, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani expressed gratitude to partners and stakeholders for supporting initiatives that promote nutrition, food security, and sustainable agriculture in Edo State.
She highlighted the importance of empowering women in agriculture and the benefits of egg production, not only for nutrition but also for livelihoods.

Mrs Anani supported 30 women in Agriculture with tokens to enhance their egg production capabilities.
The Coordinator emphasized the need for collective action to promote egg consumption, support local agriculture, and create awareness about the nutritional benefits of eggs. She shared personal anecdotes about the health benefits of eggs, particularly for brain function and healthy aging.
The President of Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN) noted that the egg industry significantly contributes to the state’s economy, empowering rural communities and creating jobs. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between scientists, farmers, and policymakers for the industry’s success.
The President of Poultry Association of Nigeria ( PAN) Edo State Branch, appreciated the Coordinator’s support for women in agriculture and highlighted the nutritional benefits of eggs for all ages and backgrounds.
The Provost of the College of Education, Igueorikia, Dr. Andrew Omosede, described eggs as the “almighty life saver” and offered lighthearted advice to start the day with eggs, wishing everyone a “cracking good day” and a “sunny day filled with eggs and goodness”.

The event concluded with awards presentations to the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, distribution of bags of poultry feeds to women in agriculture, and a group photograph.
