The Coordinator Office of the First Lady, Edo State, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has called for intensified sensitization and awareness creation on the importance of immunizing children against polio, as part of efforts to eradicate the disease.

Speaking at a road walk to mark World Polio Day 2025 in Benin City, Mrs. Anani emphasized the need for collective action to ensure that every child receives the polio vaccine, stressing that a healthy child is a prerequisite for a healthy society.

She urged parents to take advantage of the free vaccination programme and protect their children from preventable diseases, noting that proper vaccination will keep them healthy and strong.

The District Governor of Rotary Club International, Mr. Percy Okojie, noted that Rotary Club remains committed to advocating for a polio-free society.

The Oredo Council Boss, Hon. Engr. Gabriel Iduseri, reaffirmed the Council’s readiness to partner with the Edo State Government and other health agencies to eradicate polio, noting that Governor Monday Okpebholo remains committed to citizens’ health and wellbeing.

A polio survivor, Mrs. Ann Ojugo, shared her story, encouraging parents to immunize their children to prevent avoidable disabilities.

The sensitization walk ended with a collective pledge by stakeholders to ensure that no child in Edo is left behind in the campaign to End Polio.
