Nigerian army has no power to investigate Fisayo – Sowore Omoyele
1 min readFisayo Soyombo, investigative journalist was arrested in the early hour of today as the news spread accross the social media.
Reacting to the arrest of the journalist , Omoyele Sowore condemned the action of Nigerian Army.
He added: I have just read a watery press statement by the HQ Nigerian Army that journalist ‘Fisayo Soyombo was arrested on an oil bunkering site and “undergoing interrogation,” the Nigeria Army knew from the point of so-called “arrest’ that Soyombo was investigating oil bunkering carried out by the usual suspects, including some high-level security officials, his arrest and illegal detention was primarily aimed at covering up these atrocities.
Omoyele called the attention of Nigerian army in port harcourt to release Fisayo Souombo immediately that such investigation must be carried out by Nigerian Police.
Let me reiterate that the @HQNigerianArmy has no powers to investigate or prosecute any crime except the ones involving its personnel; it is the duty of the @PoliceNG. #FreeSoyomboNOW said Yele.
