How we arrest, recover automatic weapon from fake inspector – Anambra Police

The Anambra State Police Command has explained how its operatives arrested a fake police inspector.
The impostor, Chidi Ekwesiri (50) was arrested by the Anti-Cultism Squad of the Command, Enugwu Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area on Wednesday, 18 December.
Ekwesiri who hailed from Umunya, Oyi LGA of the State, was arrested by the operatives while on surveillance patrol along the Onitsha-Enugu Expressway by Unizik temporary site.
According to a statement by the Command’s spokesman SP Tochukwu Ikenga, one automatic pump action gun and a police uniform were recovered from the suspect.
“The suspect claimed to be a Sergeant and a serving member of the Nigeria Police Force in Lagos, but later denied his earlier claim.
“He also confessed that the gun was given to him by a yet to be identified man at Ukpo.”
The statement disclosed that further interrogation of the suspect by operatives led to the arrest of two other suspects (not named), who are currently undergoing interrogation.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, has directed the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, for a comprehensive investigation.
Ikenga disclosed that the suspects would be charged to court on conclusion of the investigations.
