Christmas eve tragedy: Suspected drug addict goes berserk, kills 4-year-old son in Edo

Tragedy struck on the eve of Christmas day, in Edo State, as a suspected drug addict, Theophilus Osazuwa, went berserk, kills his four-year-old son, Testimony, by slamming him on the wall.

The incident occurred at Ogbeson Quarters, off Agbor Road, in Benin, the State capital.

A statement by the spokesman of Edo State Command of Nigeria Police, SP Moses Joel Yamu, disclosed that the suspect was known for the consumption of illicit substances.

The 35-year-old suspect who is now cooling off in police detection, was said to have arrived his home on the fateful day at about 12.30 pm, went berserk, screaming “holy ghost fire”.

He was alleged to have reached for the boy, slammed him to the wall.

“The child was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced deadn on arrival.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the young man who is known for the consumption of illicit (colos, ice etc) substances and acted under the influence of same,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Umoru Ozigi, has warned the general public, especially the youths, against the dangers of consuming illicit substances and drugs that may be detrimental to their health, endanger thier lives and that of the people around them.
