Man Stabbed To Death Over Christmas Rice Palliative In Delta
1 min readA 30-year-old man, Daniel Onyejekwe, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his neighbour to death during a dispute over rice.
The PUNCH reports that incident took place on New Year Day at Ogwanja area of Sapele, Delta State, while rice was being distributed along Boyo Road in Ogwanja.
An argument reportedly erupted between Onyejekwe and the victim simply identified as Christian, which escalated to fatal confrontation.
According to a eyewitness, who asked not to be named, “Christian and Daniel started tugging at the rice, and during the struggle, Daniel grabbed a bottle and stabbed Christian multiple times. The vigilante group rushed Christian to the hospital, but he was sadly pronounced dead on arrival.”
The State Police Command spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the incident on Thursday, disclosed that both men sustained injuries from the fight that ensued.
“It is confirmed, and the suspect is in custody. The two were fighting and both sustained severe injuries. Tragically, one, Christian, has died,” Edafe said.
Edafe who said the police have launched investigation into the incident, added that the suspect would face prosecution once the investigation is complete.
