Edo First Lady’s Courtesy Visit to Comptroller of Immigration Services, Edo State

The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Anani, paid a courtesy visit to the Edo State Comptroller of Immigration Services, Mr. Martins Monyei, to strengthen collaborations aimed at curbing irregular migration in the state.
The Comptroller, Mr. Martins Monyei, expressed his appreciation for Her Excellency’s impactful leadership in Edo State. He assured the delegation that the Immigration Service is committed to addressing irregular migration for the benefit of Edo people, stating that the necessary measures are already being put in place to combat the menace.
During the visit, Mr. Monyei highlighted several challenges faced by the Immigration Service, including inadequate office space and furniture. He disclosed that although the building belongs to the Immigration Service, there is an ongoing ownership dispute with the Nigerian Army. He added, “We have a lot of sensitive materials here, but the environment is porous. We need a perimeter fence to ensure proper monitoring of movements within our premises.”
The Comptroller further requested land for the construction of a prototype office building, stating, “If we can acquire a piece of land, our office is prepared to erect a structure.” He also emphasized the need for patrol vehicles to address security concerns, noting that most security challenges in Edo State result from the influx of foreigners. “We need two or three patrol vehicles to station at every border leading to Benin, as these should serve as immigration checkpoints,” he added.
In her response, Mrs. Anani, assured the Comptroller that the state government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, would intervene to resolve these issues and ensure seamless operations. “A new Edo has risen, and we assure you of our unwavering support and partnership,” she stated.
