The Edo State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Hon. Samson Osagie Esq, has appealed and called on governments, spirited individuals, non governmental organisations and others to invest in the treatment of cancer patients to enable them leave a normal life.

Dr. Samson Osagie’s made the statements in an event organise by BISAM Care Foundation 2nd year anniversary and 3rd remembrance of Mrs. Olabisi Amenze Osagie JP, in loving memory of his late wife, visited the Oncology department, University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) Benin city.

Osagie’s said the inspiration for this foundation activities is born out from the fact that while his late wife was on her sick bed, she was also helping other cancer patients.

He added that, he believed that the gesture must be sustained to support humanity.

“The BISAM Care foundation was established two years ago in memory of my late wife, Mrs. Olabisi Amenze JP, who passed on the 10th of April 2022, on an Easter Sunday. My wife suffered triple negative breast cancer for 11 years.

” She got treatment both home and abroad until God Almighty call her home, I think God knows the best. The inspiration for this foundation activities is born out from the fact that while she was on her sick bed, she was supporting other cancer patients, because we eventually discovered after her passing on when she was in her sick bed, she was sending money to support cancer patients that were taking treatment in the same hospital with her.”

” So, we believe that this gesture must be sustained to support humanity. and is a way of making her memory indelible in the minds of people, and in our minds as a family. We also believe that living a life without supporting your immediate environment and persons is not even worth it. No matter how much you enjoy on your own”.

” So our focus is to continue to use this BISAM Care foundation not only to make the memory of my late wife an indelible one, but to impact on those who are going through similar pains that she went through.

He further stated, “I want to use this opportunity to call on governments, public spirited individuals, organisations, non governmental organisations, corporate bodies to invest more in the treatment of cancer because it doesn’t respect anybody”.

” So when you are able to put more resources, support and investment to health institution such as UBTH and other hospitals across the country that render services. Patients would become unfortunate by virtue of been impacted by this sickness would have helped.

” I believe that this is the only way we can say thank God for what he has done for us. We must support others and that’s the whole idea of this foundation,” Osagie’s stressed.

Dr Osagie’s has supported the patients in the hospital both in the clinic and the wards.

” With substantial amount to reduce the effects of their bills. This is what we are praying and advocating for, for other well meaning Nigerians and Edo people to help because the burden of healthcare on individual is getting too much and we want to use the opportunity to call on individual to join this advocacy,” Obaseki said.
