Anambra CP, Itam vows to hunt down gunmen who killed 7 persons in Ihiala

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, has vowed to hunt down on yet-to-be-identified gunmen who attacked some security operatives and unarmed civilians in Ihiala.

Itam made the vow when he paid on-the-spot assessment visit to the scene of the incident, where he ordered an immediate manhunt of the assailants to make them face the wrath of the law.

Seven persons, including two unarmed passers-by lost their lives in the unfortunate incident which which occurred on Monday, December 30, 2024, at about 11.20 am.

It was gathered that the gunmen shot sporadically at a venue where preparations are ongoing for a burial ceremony slated for January 2, 2025.

It was further gathered that while escaping the scene, the hoodlums shot at two security operatives at a Security Observation Post, close to the Local Government Headquaters by the Express Road.

One of the victim who was rescued by the Joint Security Team is currently responding to treatment at an undisclosed medical facility.

CP Itam who interviewed some eye witnesses at the scene of the incident, assured that the perpetrators of the heinous crime would be hunted down.
