Edo First Lady Office Partners with National Automotive Design, Development Council to Empower Women in CNG Conversion

In a bid to empower more women in Edo State, the Coordinator Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, hosted the Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, Mr. Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, at Government House.
The strategic meeting aimed to empower women mechanics, especially young girls, in Edo State by providing them with training and opportunities in male-dominated fields like vehicle conversion, specifically Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion.
Mrs. Anani expressed her delight in seeing women contribute to society and the GDP, noting that this initiative could help bring balance and equity to the society. She emphasized her office’s openness to more collaborations and initiatives that could benefit girls in Edo State and thanked all partners for their support.
The Director General, Mr. Osanipin, highlighted Edo State’s uniqueness in having a high number of female mechanics and being a leader in CNG usage, which motivated the training program.
He expressed gratitude to the Coordinator Office of the First Lady, for her support and looked forward to further collaboration with the state government.
Mr. Osanipin also revealed plans to commence building on a secured property in Edo State and discussions with the University of Benin (UNIBEN) to promote the use of new energy vehicles.
The Honorable Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh, represented by Mrs. Ifeoma Williams, Senior Special Adviser on Strategic Communications, emphasized the importance of women empowerment, particularly in Nigeria’s industrialization era. The minister’s representative commended the initiative and highlighted its potential impact on the state’s development.
The meeting highlights the partnership between the Office of the First Lady and the National Automotive Design and Development Council to empowering women in the automotive industry.
