Edo State Government Reaffirms Commitment to Benin Cultural Heritage

Benin’s vibrant cultural heritage is integral to the customs and traditions of its people, declared Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, during a recent meeting with the Aiguobasinmwin Movement at Government House in Benin City.
The group, led by its President Mr. Iyamu Osaro, paid homage to the region’s rich cultural heritage and reaffirmed their dedication to its preservation.
Mrs. Anani paid glowing tribute to His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewere 11 CFR, the revered monarch of Benin, for his tireless efforts in preserving and promoting the cultural values that define the community.
She also commended the Aiguobasinmwin Movement for their dedication to projecting and advancing Edo State’s cultural heritage. “I am glad that vibrant young people are taking an active interest in our cultural legacy. Edo State is renowned as a land of culture – the ancient city of bronze, cradle of black civilizations, and the heartbeat of the nation,” she remarked.
Emphasizing the movement’s role in empowering individuals and contributing to a more productive society, Mrs. Anani noted that such initiatives are essential in reducing social ills.
She further highlighted that Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo’s administration is firmly committed to serving the people of Edo State by ensuring that cultural heritage and artifacts are properly preserved.
During the visit, Mr. Osaro solicited collaboration with the Office of the First Lady to support a planned two-month entrepreneurship workshop in honor of His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewere 11 CFR.
“We are here to congratulate you on your assumption of this esteemed office. Your work for humanity is truly inspiring. We have never witnessed such a remarkable leader and nurturing figure, and we hope that other political office holders will emulate your style of leadership,” he stated.
The visit concluded with the presentation of the entrepreneurship workshop proposal and a group photograph, symbolizing a strengthened partnership in promoting and preserving Benin’s cultural heritage.
