The newly sworn in Commissioner for Information and Communication in Edo State, Hon. Paul Ohunbamu has underscored the importance of effective communication, stressing that when the people are well informed about the policies, program and projects of the government there would be less rumour.
Hon. Ohunbamu made this assertion during a meeting with staff of the Ministry of Information and Communication on his assumption of office as the new Commissioner of the Ministry.
The Commissioner while thanking the staff for a warm reception, noted that the Ministry owes the people of the State a duty of consistent and unbiased reportage of the policies and projects of the government . He further stated that he believed strongly in the policy thrust of the Governor Okpebholo’s administration and would work assiduously to actualize the vision of the Governor for the state.
Hon. Ohunbamu called on staff of the Ministry to work as a team in promoting and propagating the projects and policies of the State Government for the benefit of Edo people.
Earlier the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Desmond Agbama while welcoming the Commissioner said ” we are very delighted to have you as our Commissioner and wholeheartedly welcome you to the Ministry of Information and Communication, the very mouthpiece of the Government”.
” This occasion is to formerly welcome you and to say that we are very much ready to work in harmony with you to actualize the vision, mission and mandate of this Ministry and by extension to promote and propagate the policy thrust of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration”. He added.
In attendance at the event were the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Fred Itua; Special Adviser to the Governor on Electronic Media, Mr. Paul Ezenwa, Directors and staff of the Ministry, amongst others.
