Edo State’s Deputy Governor, Hon Marvellous Godwins Omobayo was amongst the prominent Edo personalities in United States who graced the year’s edition of Nigeria-America Business Forum (NABF) conference 2024.

The 2024 edition of the Forum took place in Tampa, Florida, USA, with the theme “Investing in Nigeria From The Diaspora: The Challenges and Opportunities.”

The two-day conference started on Friday, May 24 and ended on Sunday, May 26.

Hon. Àfie Braimoh, the former Edo State Commissioner of Business, Trade, and Cooperatives, was part of the high-powered Edo people at the annual business summit.

Her wealth of experience in such global business summit is indisputable, as her sharp intellect and global understanding of issues were evident from the insightful contributions she made to the discussions at the summit.

Likewise, the Edo State delegation seemed well-prepared for the event, given the touch of royalty in its delegation, which included HRH Oba Bamidele Obaitan from the Akoko Edo dynasty, accompanied by his wife, Queen Mother Rebecca Obaitan.

The NABF summit this year provides an opportunity for the attendees to identify various business investment opportunities for collaboration with local partners.

The presence of the Edo State deputy governor at the business summit allowed the state delegation to promote the favourable business climate and the significant business potential available in the state to interested foreign business partners looking to collaborate with locals.

Governor Obaseki of Edo State is a known strong advocate for locally made goods and services. He has made significant efforts to support local MSMEs while also working to promote local production through incentives and a favourable business environment for their growth.

Sir Victor Young, a global business icon, actively participated in the summit alongside his wife, Lady Tia Young.

As a shrewd businessman with a sharp eye for identifying profitable business ventures, the African American with Nigerian ancestry expressed interest in investing in Edo State and establishing a lasting partnership with local entrepreneurs and business alliances with his Nigerian partners.

His expression did spark great excitement among the members of the Edo State delegation as they hope to capitalize on the opportunity.

Sir Young is the MD/CEO of the Morgan Auto Group and also the Founder/CEO of Dunamis Premium Spirits. He also serves on the boards of several other high-performing business enterprises, including the Moffitt Cancer Center.

It is expected that soon the benefits of the Nigeria-US business rapprochement will become evident as both countries seek to deepen cooperation in key sectors of the economy.
