The Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Orhionmwon Local Government Area has witnessed an impressive turnout of registrants, eliciting praise from the Council Boss, Hon. Newman Ugiagbe. While commending the enthusiasm of the people, Hon. Ugiagbe has also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to improve the technical aspect of the exercise, noting that most of the machines deployed are functioning below expectations.

In an interview, Hon. Ugiagbe expressed his delight at the large number of people who have come out to register, describing it as a testament to the people’s desire to participate in the democratic process. “I am thrilled to see our people taking advantage of this opportunity to register and exercise their franchise,” he said. “It’s a positive sign for our democracy.”

However, Hon. Ugiagbe noted that the exercise has been plagued by technical issues, with many of the machines malfunctioning or operating slowly. “While we appreciate the efforts of INEC, we urge them to address the technical issues promptly to ensure a smooth and hitch-free exercise,” he said.

Despite these challenges, Hon. Ugiagbe commended the maturity displayed by all interested parties, including political parties, civil society organizations, and individual registrants. “I salute the peaceful and orderly manner in which the exercise has been conducted so far,” he said. “It’s a testament to the maturity of our people.”

Hon. Ugiagbe’s call for improvement on the technical aspect of the CVR exercise is echoed by many stakeholders in the area, who believe that a seamless registration process is crucial to the success of the exercise. As the CVR exercise continues, it is hoped that INEC will take necessary steps to address the technical issues and ensure that all eligible citizens are able to register and exercise their franchise in the upcoming elections.

The INEC CVR exercise in Orhionmwon has witnessed an encouraging turnout of registrants, but technical issues need to be addressed to ensure a smooth and successful exercise. The Council Boss’s call for improvement is a step in the right direction, and it is hoped that all stakeholders will work together to ensure the success of the exercise.
