The Executive Chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Dr. Eric Osayande, has continued his market money policy to cushion the effect of the hardship now faced by many Nigerians for which Ikpoba-Okha market women are not spared.
Yesterday, Wednesday, the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman shared a financial grant of two million naira to Oregbeni market women and street traders in Queen Ede and Ohovbe junction, respectively.
One hundred (100) Oregbeni market women, fifty (50) Queen Ede street traders, and another fifty (50) Ohovbe junction street traders, located in Wards 2 and 3 of the local government area, got their share amidst joy and praise for the Council boss.
Osayande market money aims to cushion the biting hardship faced by the vast majority of market women in Ikpoba-Okha, who share in the adverse effect, occassioned by the removal of subsidy by the APC-led federal government.
Over two thousand two hundred (2,200) market women, across the LGA, have so far benefitted of the programme since Osayande started it on assumption of office for second term, September, 2023.
Osayande has said his administration will continue to reach out to the vulnerables, who are ready victims of unpalatable government policies, programmes.
“We will continue to stretch our hands of fellowship to our people; we understand the times, and will do all within our powers to put smile on the faces of our people”, Vice Chairman of the local government, Hon. Osamuyi Idehen, who led the distribution team on Wednesday, assured.
Speaking further, Idehen noted that the market money was in fulfilment of the campaign promise Osayande made to the women during his electioneering campaigns last year.
“Una remember say when we dey campaign last year, Chairman promise to support una market if he win, as Chairman don win enter office since last year, na e start dey share money to market women to support una market”.
Two hundred (200) women benefitted of the Osayande market money on Wednesday, commending the Council boss for reaching out to them at a time of great need; they expressed, joy with promises of continuous support for the Osayande-led administration.
“We are very grateful to the Council Chairman for everything he is doing for market women; all the support he is giving us, we appreciate him; this is a great one from him, you can see we are very happy, we will continue to support him in his administration”, Suzan Osayi, a beneficiary from Queen Ede, noted.
Joy Ogbeifun, from Oregbeni, obviously elated, noted, “this is a great thing, we have never seen such before, oh my God, what a time this is coming, we are so grateful, all our support is for the Council Chairman”
The women across the three (3) distribution points were full of joy, with songs of praise for the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman, Dr. Eric Osayande.
The team, led by the Vice Chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Hon. Osamuyi Idehen, first visited Queen Ede, then Ohovbe junction, both in Ward 3, and thereafter moved to Oregbeni market in Ward 2.
50 Queen Ede street traders, 50 Ohovbe junction street traders and 100 Oregbeni market women benefitted on Wednesday; recall that last year, Osayande first shared market money to 100 Oregbeni market women, with another 100 women getting their share on Wednesday.
Amongst Wednesday’s beneficiaries of the Osayande market money are Osahon Omoigui, Mary Okoyomo, Rose Osayande, Goodness Ohiku, Juliet Oduware, Loveth Olufemi, Sweetness Ehioghiren, Grace Okunbor, Helen Chima, Vero Agho, Kate Oladele, Stella Idemudia, Cynthia Ajor, and Blessing Ozabor.
Others are Rose Omokhare, Roseline Ebose, Ujabulu Akhere, Rufus Ezeugwu, Edith Ikechukwu, Victoria Okuonghae, Dora Omoriyekemwen, Ivie Osagiobare, Blessing Idemudia, Ogbebor Anna Idusogie, Maria Imuentinyan, Merit O., Juliet Okoduwa, Oghogho Osifo, Ada Okie, Esther Omosigho and Ivie Imalele also benefitted.
Joy Ndukwe, Helen Iserien, Juliana Enebeli, Bridget Okeke, Mariam Sule, Juliet Isibor, Blessing Edo, Success Osagie, Patience Omorogieva, Favour Orhivabor, Joy Ogbeifun, Tina Gospower, Blessing Ayalyowu, Doris Eromosele, Joy Okoro, Philomena Osakpolor, Ramotu Adamu, Mariamu Mohammed, Osagie Amenze, Favour Musa Beatrice Tuke, Joy Victor, Faith Imafidon and a host of others, also benefitted of the Osayande market money of Wednesday.
The Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman, Dr. Eric Osayande, has directed the market money distribution team to capture 100 women in Eweka and adjoining streets, 50 Santana market women and 50 Evboriaria market women in Ward 6, for the next phase of distribution.
Amongst persons who joined the Vice Chairman for the Wednesday market money distribution were Leader of the Ikpoba-Okha Legislative Arm, Hon. Kingsley Balogban and Head of Revenue, Ikpoba-Okha, Mrs. Josephine Duze.
