Shock in Ekosodin Community as Three-Story Building Collapses, No Lives Lost

Residents of Ekhator street of Ekosodin Community in Ovia North East local government area of Edo state were yesterday thrown into deep shock following the collapse of a residential building in the area.
The incident took place at about 7;00 am in the early hours of saturday. An eyewitness, Mr Patrick idahosa explained that the voices of the trapped victims calling for help alerted them while people defiled the early morning Rain to rescue them victims.
Another eyewitness at the scene Mr. Hycent Monday appealed to relevant agencies of government to provide excavator to help rescue others who may trapped under the building.
Meanwhile, Mr Donald Ehis advised people to understand the essence of having a registered building plan and the need to stick to the guidelines of building process to avoid collapse of the buildings and possible loss of lives.
Fortunately to the Glory of God no life was lost in the incident while the rescued victims with various degrees of injury were taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical treatment.
The collapsed three story building had mostly students of the University of Benin as tenants.
Our reporter Joy Robinson who was at the scene of the incident reports that men of the Nigeria emergency management agency, the police, federal and state fire service, civil defense corps and the state emergency rescue team were on ground to maintain peace and order.
