An 18-year-old boy, Kingdom Paul, has been arrested by operatives of the Edo State Police Command for the alleged murder of a 38-year-old woman, Victory Oro, in Benin City.
Paul was among several suspects paraded at the Police Command headquarters in Benin City. The incident occurred last Thursday at a local lodge where Paul and Oro had gone following a negotiated arrangement.
According to the police, the altercation began after the two had a dispute over a payment of two thousand naira, which Paul had agreed to pay Oro for their encounter. During the argument, Paul allegedly stabbed Oro.
Oro was rushed to a hospital on Upper Ekenwan Road, where she later died. Her body has been deposited in the hospital mortuary for an autopsy.
The spokesman for the Edo State Police Command, SP Moses Joel Yamu, said that an investigation is ongoing.
Speaking to the press, the suspect, Kingdom Paul, admitted to the crime, stating that he attacked Oro suddenly and without any apparent reason, despite their earlier agreement.
